Proclaim Your Age and Beauty

The truth is aging is inevitable and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles proclaims your life experience. So, let’s embrace and celebrate the wisdom and the journey that got you where you are at today.

Let's consider the term, "anti-aging", which holds a negative connotation, to "supportive aging", which brings a feeling of positivity and control because, frankly, you're in the drivers seat of your new life. You're a confident woman and your focus is to look and feel amazing at the age you are right now.

Hence, when women ask me how they can prevent, or erase, wrinkles I'm not inclined to think about the popular medical treatments of today, such as Botox and Juvederm.  I'm much more likely to think about nutrition, detoxification, exercise, and stress management as the foundational pillars to wrinkle prevention and/or reduction. Why? Because it's natural, it supports the health of your entire body, not only your skin, it's safe, it is not artificial or toxic, and it works! These approaches reflect your true health and beauty from within.

Juicing for Healthy, Radiant Skin

One positive way to look and feel amazing and to prevent, or reduce, skin aging and wrinkling is through juicing. Juices that are cold-pressed, organic and 100% raw possess many beneficial health factors that are supportive to vital and radiant complexions.

The following juice ingredients are known for their skin-supportive benefits:

Carrot Juice
Carrots are outstanding protectors of our cells with their abundant supply of antioxidants and are rich sources of pro-Vitamin A carotenoids, which includes alpha- and beta-carotene. Carrots are known for their ability to absorb solar radiation making them nature’s internal sun block. [1,2]

Watermelon Juice

Watermelons are known for their high lycopene content. Lycopene is the carotenoid that give many fruits and vegetables their beautiful red color. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant, and just like alpha- and beta-carotene, offer sun protective effects. Studies in humans have shown that those with carotenoid-rich diets had "photoprotective effects on the skin". Carotenoids, over time, build skin resiliency to sun exposure, thereby preventing and improving skin aging, hence, skin reveals improved elasticity and hydration, skin texture, wrinkles and age spots (hyperpigmentation). [1,2]

Cucumber Juice
Cucumbers are nutrient-dense and have ample amounts of water, so they are excellent skin hydrators. They're also a good source for biotin and silicon which  give the skin extra strength and suppleness.

Beet Juice
Beets have traditionally been used to support liver and gallbladder function and detoxification. Beets stimulate bile flow, aiding in the elimination of toxins from the bowel. Beets further increase nitric oxide production, which increases blood flow and oxygenation of the body. Many athletes will purchase beet powder to provide them with more stamina before an athletic event.

Green Juice
Leafy greens such as kale, spinach, parsley, chard, etc., are rich in chlorophyll and alkalizing minerals, which aids in detoxification, colon cleansing, cellular protection and the neutralizing of body acids for safe elimination. Chlorophyll is also known for its anti-inflammatory effects and its support to the gut's microbiome, which in turn supports a healthy immune system. Green juices are the "go-to" for keeping the skin looking healthy and vibrant, free from blemishes, rashes and other pro-inflammatory conditions.

Ginger and Turmeric
Ginger and turmeric are roots/spices used in juicing that are highly anti-inflammatory and immune supportive.

Basil and Cilantro
These powerful herbs are known for balancing the internal microbiome, reducing inflammation, supporting immune function, and providing potent antioxidant support. They are delicious in many juice recipes, especially green juices.

Juice Benefits Recap

I invite you to try juicing as a supplement to a healthy diet. Over a pound of fresh produce goes into a 12- or 16-ounce cold-pressed juice, making them nature's most perfect supplement. Each juice is low in calories, but dense in nutrition. Although the insoluble fibers are removed, the soluble fibers are present to feed your gut microbiome and absorb unwanted toxins. Each juice is abundant in the phytonutrients that help to support and protect all our cells and absorb UV radiation. [1,2] In essence, you can eat your way to a more youthful and healthful appearance!
